Central Alabama Youth Rugby
Why Play Rugby?
Rugby is more than a sport—it's a way to build resilience, teamwork, and confidence. With a focus on inclusion and respect, rugby welcomes players of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels, making it a place where every child can shine. Let your child experience the thrill of the game while learning valuable life skills both on and off the field!
Our Teams
-
Touch (Age 7-15)
Touch Rugby is a great way to get introduced to the sport at any age. Unlike flag football all kids get to run, pass, and score. They all get to play defense too!
It’s fast paced, great for developing all around skills, and a lot of fun.
-
Middle School
This team is for those middle school aged (U15) kids looking to play “real” rugby. It is full contact, but with a big emphasis on learning to tackle (and be tackled) safely. We are currently targeting a city based league with multiple locations to be played from mid-April to the end of June.
Great cross training sport for football, wrestling and even basketball!
-
High School
Our High School aged (U19) team is full contact, but with a continued emphasis on athlete safety. Played in the summer, it is an excellent way to learn the game, stay in shape for other sports, and develop all around skills and athleticism.
No experience is necessary and all skill levels welcome!
“I started playing rugby when I was 16 years old here in Birmingham. Little did I know when I started, this sport I just loved to play would take me all over the world, give me a job, a wife, family, and some of the best friends of my life. I came for the sport and stayed for the people.”

Join Us!
We might be biased, but we think Rugby is the greatest team sport in the world. There is almost nothing you can do on a rugby field by yourself and the teamwork and comradery this builds is second to none. It needs short kids, tall kids, big kids, and small kids, because each has a unique and needed role they can serve. Come be a part of it!
