Frequently Asked Questions

Is rugby safe for my child?
Yes! While there is inherent risk in playing any sport, particularly a contact sport, youth rugby focuses on safety, with age-appropriate rules, proper coaching, and an emphasis on safe tackling techniques. Coaches are trained to teach safe play, and players wear protective gear like mouthguards.

What equipment does my child need?
All your child needs to start is a mouthguard, cleats, and comfortable athletic clothing. Jerseys and other team gear are usually provided by the program.

How is rugby different from other contact sports?
Unlike some sports, rugby focuses on tackling safely, with techniques designed to minimize impact and avoid injury. Additionally, rugby fosters a strong sense of respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

Will my child need to know the rules before joining?
No prior experience is needed! Our coaches will teach your child the rules and skills step by step, ensuring they feel confident and supported as they learn.

What are the time commitments?
Youth rugby typically involves one to two 90-minute practices a week and occasional weekend games. We understand busy schedules and work to keep practices fun and engaging.
